2014 Spring Furniture Market continued….

Trending… Picking up where we left off last week, by far the biggest trend was the complete resurgence of gold, and brass finishes…it has been trending the last few markets as manufacturers started to dabble with it, but this time it was absolutely EVERYWHERE….and it truly was THE story of Market….but these are not the brass finishes of old…some are more an antique brass, some are a softer brushed gold finish.. Bernhardt went all in with their Jet Set Collection… Love this chair! Worlds Away is showing both the gold and white trend in these featured products.. As far as colors….the Greys still have it, as a background neutral and as an accent… Shown above in a new gray and white damask fabric at Hickory Chair, on their newly designed Haydon sofa and chair. Below is the Worlds Away  Meredith chest in a gray lacquer painted finish… On to colors…starting to see a strong showing of lemon-citrinesas seen below in these pillows by Ryan Studio…it feels fresh, has undertones of green, and it plays nicely with browns from linen to chocolates…. …to mixing with soft grays to charcoals…and below with navy at CR Laine… …and who could argue with the entrance of lemon-citrine as illustrated here on the cover of MILIEU featuring Allesandra Branca’s Anna Damask for Schumacher As I wrote in a recent blog post, I am definitely feeling pinks being increasingly used a strong accent in interiors, and nothing signifies this better than the window of beautiful, vivid parasols at the Moore Councill showroom CR Laine showed lots of pinks mixed with browns, which is one of my favorite color combos.. text a beautiful new wool pink and gray plaid at Hickory Chair…. So what do you think?? Is ‘gold’ flipping your switch..or not?? Are you bold enough to try the lemon-citrines..or punch it up with some pinks??? Tell us what you think regarding these current...

Spring Furniture Market Wrap-up

My gracious…there was a lot to see last week at Spring Furniture Market in High Point!! I am going to start with my absolute favorite thing from Market, and that was the introduction at Chaddock Furniture of the new Mary McDonald Collection..I could go on and on for days about how wonderful it is, and how lovely and gracious Mary is, listening to her talk was like sitting in on a lively art history lesson….but I will just have to write another blog post later, too much to cover!  A few pics for you to drool over.. Moving on to other favorites at Pearson…loved the idea of this coffee table, the bases look like “bracelet” links…   and the coffee table can actually be split into separate drink tables…I love when furniture is ‘portable’, it makes it more functional… Also love the stool below with the hoof foot…the saddle seat makes a comfortable place to perch, and  the combination of the cream finish with the gold makes it more subtle that if it was an all-gold finish..could see a pair of these at the end of a bed.. Keep moving on to Hickory Chair….. Suzanne Kasler never disappoints…..the sea of WHITE  that she used on most of the furnishings and fabrics was a refreshing sight…..and she really showed how to use a “high-low” combination with the IKEA hanging fixtures… Hickory Chair can custom finish any case piece in any Benjamin Moore paint color, and it was great to see one of my favorite cocktail tables in a white lacquer-style finish… Have never paid much attention to the Asheworth Campaign desk, but in this orange painted finish it was a real winner for me…. and these Candler beds as twins….After all these years, orange is still a mainstay as an accent color… Loved this new Hable exclusive Dots fabric in a pink/brown color way on the Camp chair and ottoman… and in this lemony yellow version, it takes the ‘stuffiness’ out of this super traditional dining chair…. Awesome new modern style Clift chair above from Mr. & Mrs. Howard for Sherrill… Next on to Arteriors… the Felice bench inspired this smaller stool…. Loved the look of the stools surrounding this table… Laura Kirar introduced several new items, one of which is this Rabari Chandelier… and the Royalton Oval Chandelier… Madegoods Troy lamp in a white plaster finish… But, my true favorite of market is when my sweet husband plays chauffeur, and I get to see his smiling face after a long day!!! Whoa, so that’s enough for today…..more next week on the overall trends that we saw popping up throughout Market….. Happy...

Hippie Deluxe…

As promised yesterday…….one of our favorite “pink” projects.  The occupant of this bedroom was a mere pre-teen when we came up with the design vision…but we knew that we needed to provide something that would make her happy well beyond her teenage years….and we definitely succeeded as she is well into her teens now, and happy as a clam in this cool environment…… The daughter’s main request was for the color pink, and we gave it to her in many shades!  The dark pink on the ceiling gives that often overlooked space a major starring role to show off the fabulous french antique chandelier….pops of orange provide our accent color, and then a much needed addition of soothing whites to cool off the pink and oranges….our crowning jewel, and last addition to that space, is the VERELLEN Charlotte wing chair and the ottoman providing the perfect cozy spot to study…or nap! What colors are you currently crushing...

In the Pink….

In the Pink….

PINK is like the little sister of RED…soft, happy, young, laughing, spontaneous….. Even though it was not chosen as the Pantone color of 2014, I am feeling a lot of pink coming on…everything from blush to super saturated… …look at these juicy pinks at Ryan Studio pillows and what better pink and grey combos could there be than with the new Alessandra Branca Collection for Schumacher…. My hunch that pinks are coming on strong this spring was further validated when I opened up the newest issue of my new favorite magazine MILIEU!! Finding a good pink paint color is sometimes quite daunting, but I came across a great one while working on the Cashiers Showcase House from the Sherwin Williams Low-country Collection called CREEK SHRIMP, it is crisp and cool, with just the right amount of warmth.. For more inspiration check out my PINK board on pinterest HERE So, what do you say, are you feeling PINK? Stay tuned, tomorrow we will feature one of our favorite PINK...
